George Hood has followers on every continent. Some have a goal of completing a one-hour plank. Others are curious about mental toughness. And some call, email, or fly across the globe to ask George for help after suffering from daily pain, an incapacitating illness, or crippling anxiety /depression.

This site is dedicated to them.

Each of George’s 17 record attempts (13 were successful) was a charity fundraiser, most for wounded military members. Far beyond donating money, he has changed lives through his training, guidance, and inspiring Hood-isms (e.g., “Now means now.” “Training continues.” “Don’t believe, just do.”)

Articles posted on Medium will be written by those who coach or train under George and those who study George’s methods. It’s surprising how training to tolerate discomfort can provide benefits that carry over into every aspect of our lives. We all have learned valuable life lessons through working with George and want more people to have access to this content.

If you see any of George’s YouTube videos, you will see that “it takes a team” to do a 10-hour plank or any of his other endurance events. George feeds off his team and we are, in return, energized by his spirit. On these pages, we will post more about George’s background story from an emotionally abused kid to a Marine Officer, NCIS and DEA agent, and full-timerecord-breakerr.

Joe Risser, a physician researcher who became interested in George’s extreme mental toughness, will share some of the latest science on the subject including recently identified mental toughness biomarkers that we may be able to track in real-time tomorrow.
